"V" POTUS in Denver

  • by: Colorado Pols

Vice President Dick Cheney is in Denver today, stumping for Rick O’Donnell in his bid to win the seat in CD-7. Once again, you heard it here first — Colorado Pols first reported Cheney’s visit more than a month ago.

Cheney’s appearance for O’Donnell should also put to rest the rumors that Bob Beauprez might bow out of the race for governor. Beauprez would have a hard time going back to CD-7 now that the White House has stuck their neck out for O’Donnell.

  1. Beauprez’ neck is also stuck out there for the WH on a number of issues that will haunt him in next year’s election.  In fact, right now, there are a lot of R ‘stuck-out necks’ looking for a place to get some cover.

  2. Two great things shall come out of tonight for O’Donnell.
First and foremost he is clearly unopposed for the primary. Plus he will be $200,000 to $300,000 to the good in actual funds raised tonight. This guy is going to be tough.

  3. Rick O’Donnell shall be pouring the champagne tonight.
First and best of all he is unopposed until the primary is over. Lamm and Perlmutter will spend a million between them just ripping the other to shreds.
Second, big Rick will be at least $200,000 to the plus column and maybe as much as $400,000 after tonight. Ticket sales have been brisk. If Scooter is indicted, Cheney will just throw him under the bus. These guys are winners not sentimentalists

  4. “If Scooter is indicted, Cheney will just throw him under the bus.”

If Scooter is indicted there’s a 50-50 chance that Cheney goes down as well.

  5. Some of the media reports out today are indeed leaning towards the “throw him under the bus” camp; some of them come perilously close to saying it was Libby’s vendetta alone.  I don’t buy it, and I’ve seen too many other indicators that Cheney was at least not unaware of the action (which may be enough for charges of conspiracy to commit espionage or conspiracy to reveal intelligence identities).  I guess we’ll see sometime this week (unless Fitzgerald decides to extend the jury, which doesn’t seem likely).

  6. Phoenix, dammit, how many times do I have to tell you?
I was only the piano player.  I had no idea what was going on upstairs!
    –Richard Cheney.
